I have dreamt about a studio set-up low-key for twenty years. Crazy, right?
When I started taking photography more seriously in high school, I began by contributing to a stock photography site. I would use my grampa’s old hot lights and take photos of random objects or set up concept scenarios. I branched into using people as models, still using hot lights or eventually my PocketWizard flash (or just the lights available in the room). But I always dreamt of having studio lighting to properly capture and meet the higher quality standards. Stock photography has gone a bit to the backburner now, there’s less demand and I don’t have as much free time to set up random objects for twenty cents, but I do still contribute travel photos usually. You can check it out here if you’d like!
I digress.
So, this studio space in Crofton – rather, I’ll call it a space I can use as a low-key studio, came up a few months ago. I’ve aquired a few cloth backdrops (Christmas, Valentines, and white brick) and seamless paper backdrops (tan, white, and pink) and a set of strobes and am really enjoying the fun that can be had without worrying about the weather.
For now, I am mainly taking bookings for studio shoots on select dates where I do several sessions back-to-back, but I am open to booking in clients for a solo shoot to update headshots or just have some fun in a controlled environment.
As I look to the future, I will be relocating the Pop-up Studio into a different location (likely on the same property) and I am currently brainstorming the ways the space can be designed to not require constant backdrop changing but rather to utilize the existing walls. Possibly set up some furniture… who knows! But this is the start of a new adventure, and I am excited to capture some faces in this space and see how my studio journey progresses.
I will, however, always love an opportunity to shoot in nature…. haha
Please send me an inquiry if you’d like more information, to book in, or to find out about seasonal offerings!
