Meet Isabel – This is what a Lifestyle Newborn Session with Siblings looks like!

This session feels like ages ago now, but since it happened I’ve been intending to put it on the blog. This was the first time that I had a newborn session with THREE older siblings, and it was too fun!

Isabel’s siblings looooved her and it was such a pleasure to be invited into the chaos that is life with littles, to capture this special time.

With all the newborn sessions I’ve captured, and having two of my own children as well, I can attest to the newborn session for a first child being the most stylized, planned for, and pristine. You’ll have a good chance at getting all the shots on your list (within reason), baby will have a cute nursery backdrop, and there’s plenty of time for getting all snuggly in ALL the beautiful spaces your house offers.

By baby number two, it’s possible your baby doesn’t have a nursery – or it does, but it’s makeshift sharing space with an office or guest room. There’s toys from your older child everywhere. You have less time to clean. The aesthetic you and your partner designed your house with has become overrun by all things kid/baby, you have even less energy – you may not even book a newborn session.

By baby number three or four, chances are your baby doesn’t have their own room. There are so many schedules of activities to juggle, not to mention different windows for sleep and for hunger. The other kids are at each other’s mercy, and it’s a wonder you even are considering booking a session.

But you know what? It’s worth it.

Doing it at home, is so worth it. This mama shared with me how wonderful it was to stay home, invite me in, and be super comfortable just letting me be there to capture the moments. And there were MOMENTS. Moments of laughter, high energy, silliness, contentment, awe.

We captured it all. Not in a variety of spaces, but definitely a variety of emotions.

So if you’re thinking about booking a newborn lifestyle session but it’s not your first and you wonder how it’ll go down… if you book with me, it’ll probably be something like this.
